The Purple Urkle strain is a clone-only variety of cannabis that has skyrocketed in popularity since the 1980’s. It is sometimes referred to as Purple Urple or The Urkle as well.

It’s history is as complex as its flavor palate. A native California strain, which origins are believed to stem from a select phenotype of either Granddaddy Purple or Mendocino Purps, while the nose is a blend of skunk, berry, and fresh grapes.

It would seem that strain was named after Jaleel White’s nerdy character in the popular ’90s sitcom “Family Matters.” It’s unclear whether the strain was named after Steve Urkel, but if we had to venture a guess, we would say that its indica-dominant properties might have you bumping into inanimate objects, followed by Urkel’s famous, nasal-y catchphrase: “Did I do that?” 🙂

The effects from the Purple Urkle strain are extremely relaxing and can become quite sedative in large doses. Accordingly, it can be a great aid for those with insomnia hoping to fall asleep faster.
